Volunteer Opportunity Details:

- Develop a friendship through consistent interaction with your Little Brother or Sister.
- Make consistent efforts to contact the child’s parent or guardian to set up appropriate and agreeable meeting times.
- Serve as a source of friendship and support, not as a substitute parent or guardian.
- Maintain monthly communication with your case manager (quarterly after the first year), and return all calls promptly.
- Ensure the safety of your Little Brother or Sister while he or she is in your care.
- Assume financial responsibility for all activities in which you participate with your Little Brother or Sister (we encourage free or low-cost activities).
- Expose your Little Brother or Sister to new activities, conversations, and opportunities.
- For the community-based program, you must be 18 or older and give a commitment of at least one year.
- For the school-based program, you must be 16 or older and give a commitment of at least one year.
- Be willing to listen, understand, and relate to children.
- Have a desire to help a child through a consistent, long-term mentoring relationship.
