Be a Volunteer Shopper and help a person who is blind in your community! MCB’s Volunteer Program, GIVE (Getting Involved in Volunteer Experiences), provides volunteers for legally blind residents across the Commonwealth. A GIVE volunteer provides one-on-one services, primarily in the consumer’s (the person you are helping) home. They might help their consumer by driving to the grocery store and shopping together once a week, transporting their consumer to a doctors appointment, or doing other errands (post office, pharmacy) together.

MCB seeks volunteers 18 and over in all of the cities and towns throughout Massachusetts. We offer a two-hour training session at our Boston office to prepare volunteers to assist consumers. Volunteer will complete an application and must agree to a CORI check.

Once those requirements are out of the way, we will work on matching you with a person who is blind in your community. Your time is flexible-you and your consumer will schedule your meeting times- weekly, bi-weekly, monthly or any mutually acceptable schedule. You can volunteer days, evenings or weekends. Volunteers are requested to commit to a minimum of three months.
