Minuteman Senior Services
| Last updated on November 20, 2012 |
Our mission is to help seniors and people with disabilities live in the setting of their choice by engaging community resources and supporting caregivers.
Description:
Our services promote healthy living and well-being and help people remain living in their own homes safely and independently. Volunteers deliver meals, do bill paying, advise on medical benefits, or serve as Nursing Home Ombudsmen. Opportunities include one time, weekly or monthly commitments on weekdays or weekends for individuals to do on your own, or partner with co-workers, families or friends and share a position. Volunteers can work in most agency programs providing direct service to elders.
Minuteman services are available for seniors of all income levels and include geriatric care management, in-home care, care giver support, homemaker service, personal care, respite care, Alzheimer's support, nursing home assessment and elder protective services. We serve seniors in Acton, Arlington, Bedford, Burlington, Boxborough, Carlisle, Concord, Harvard, Lexington, Lincoln, Littleton, Maynard, Stow, Wilmington, Winchester and Woburn.
History:
Minuteman Senior Services is a private, non-profit agency that has been serving seniors in 16 towns in the northwest Boston area since 1975. We are part of a state and national network of home care agencies, and our Referral and Information department can locate senior care resources for out of state caregivers. Funding for agency operations is primarily by the government, and the rest is from foundations, grants and individual donations.
