The mission of The Open Door is to alleviate the impact of hunger in our community. We use practical strategies to connect people to good food, to advocate on behalf of those in need, and to engage others in the work of building food security.
Description:
We have many different programs to help families in our community such as: food pantry, community meals, Mobile Market, Summer Lunch Program, Senior Market & Brown Bag, Emerson Market and our resale store, Second Glance.
History:
The Open Door began in 1978 as an emergency food resource for families and individuals on Cape Ann. It has built its programs and service commitment to Gloucester and the greater community with a mission to alleviate the impact of hunger in our community. We use practical strategies to connect people to good food, to advocate on behalf of those in need, and to engage others in the work of building food security.
