Refugees come to the United States under the Federal Refugee Resettlement Program. However, after their arrival, refugees must follow up with certain procedures to insure they maintain all documents up-to-date. A volunteer immigration attorney will meet with selected clients once a week to assist with items such as: lost I-94 cards, renewal of EAD, reunification of family members, and even asylum appeals. Refugees very often to not have resources to pay for good legal aid. They rely on free assistance or attorneys who often take advantage of their desperation. Since refugees often come to the agency with their legal concerns, this is an appropriate place to offer free and effective assistance with the legal issues they face. Volunteer orientation is required and an ability to practice law in Virginia. This opportunity is sponsored by: Arlington Diocese Refugee Services We need volunteers who are free at these times
