Gala Logistics Help For Heart Ball

RSS XML FeedBackground Active Jan 2, 2012 to Jan 17, 2012

The Heart Ball is an elegant, black-tie celebration of life bringing together more than 600 of Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia's most prominent physicians, corporate, health care and community leaders for an inspirational evening of dinner, dancing, live entertainment and live and silent auctions. Held at the Ritz-Carlton Tysons in McLean, VA, the Heart Ball is the premier social event that salutes the American Heart Association's impact on the Greater Washington Community.

Are you interested in what goes on behind the scenes to prepare for a gala event? We have an immediate need for volunteers to assist our event team with logistical preparations leading up to the big day on February 25, 2012. We are seeking people with strong computer skills who can work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, high-energy environment. Experience with event planning is helpful but not required. We will consider applicants 18 or older who are available to contribute 6 hours or more per week between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. We are conveniently located in the heart of Arlington, VA just 1 block from the Ballston Metro on the orange line, near a wide variety of eateries and other services.

This is an ideal opportunity for a student with a flexible schedule who is looking to earn community service hours. This is also a great opportunity for someone with part-time or full-time availability to gain work experience with the largest voluntary health organization in the nation working to prevent, treat and defeat heart disease, stroke and other cardiovascular diseases.

Did you know that cardiovascular disease is the No. 1 killer of all Americans? In fact, someone dies from cardiovascular disease every 38 seconds! Heart disease also kills more women than all forms of cancer combined. And congenital cardiovascular defects are the most common cause of infant death from birth defects. By joining us, you can make a difference in people's lives – including your own!
