Summer Camp Teen Volunteers

Looking for a great summer experience volunteering with children? The summer camp volunteer program is a wonderful opportunity for teens who want to further develop their leadership and communication skills as well as gain experience in assisting with planning and leading activities for young children. You will work with children in a supervised recreation setting and gain valuable experience in a leadership role.

• Volunteers must be at least 13 and at least two years older than the oldest camper in the program at which they are placed.
• Volunteers work for four weeks (they do not have to be consecutive weeks except in camps that have two-week or longer sessions). New volunteers work at the same camp for all four weeks.
• Volunteers typically work the core program hours and may work some of the extended hours. No one may volunteer more than eight hours a day.
• Volunteers are placed only at camps operated by Arlington County Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources, not in contract camps.
• Volunteers are not placed where they were campers the previous summer or where their family members are current campers.
• Our goal is to place volunteers near their homes and in the programs of their choice, but we can't guarantee placements.
