Reporting to the Artistic Director, the successful candidate will:
 

• implement donor cultivation activities, including a letter from the Artistic Director, cultivation events, and opportunities for donors to attend workshops, rehearsals and meet-the artist events;
• design and produce two annual mail/e-mail donor solicitation campaigns (drafting letters of solicitation and reports for donors);
• coordinate internal communications and developing external communications and marketing materials;
• handle media outreach, including writing press releases, developing media lists and bringing interesting program stories, achievements and issues to attention of the media;
• insure that the Web site communicates key organizational messages and delivers appropriate content in an easily accessible format to a variety of stakeholders and other users.

   

   

  • Office Administration: This is a small office and will require someone who thrives on doing the work themselves to ensure accuracy and high quality with minimal support. In addition, the successful candidate will have the following qualifications: • the ability and enthusiasm to communicate JFD’s vision; • exceptional writing skills; • strong interpersonal skills and decision-making capacity; • be capable of working independently and exercising good judgment; • good organizational skills and the ability to balance multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities; • be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook and in using Internet research applications; • a positive approach, can-do attitude and a sense of humor.

  This is a volunteer internship position and the exact schedule of work hours is negotiable. The position is for the half-time schedule of 8-12 hours weekly.

  From Washington DC or Maryland: * Take 395 South * Take Exit 7 - Shirlington / Glebe Road and remain in the left lane of the exit - overhead sign is marked "Shirlington". * After passing below overpass, bear to the right to exit into Shirlington. * At the end of the exit at the traffic light turn right onto Shirlington Rd. * Go 1/2 block and turn left at first traffic light onto Four Mile Run Drive - the Weenie Beenie will be on your left. * Continue on Four Mile Run Drive 1/10 of a mile and the 3700 building will be on your left at the corner of Nelson Street and South Four Mile Run Drive.
