Daytime Phone Crisis Hotline Assistants Needed

 Looking to expand your horizons?? Have some free time during the week?? 


Whether you're a student wanting hands-on experience, a retired professional, or stay-at-home parent--- CrisisLink has the perfect opportunity for you to make a difference in your community! 

Our volunteers work on our crisis intervention hotline around the clock for 3-hour shifts throughout the day, evenings, and weekends—but we are particularly looking for volunteers to staff our crisis hotline during the WEEKDAYS!! 

CrisisLink, the greater Washington D.C. region's only 24/7 crisis, suicide and trauma prevention, intervention & response hotline, is seeking volunteers to take calls and respond directly to individuals in need. 

If you've ever wanted: 
~ To learn new and effective ways of communicating with people 
~ To make a lasting difference in the lives of others, 
~ To tell someone "I saved a life today"

-- Applications are being accepted NOW through late September.

Go to www.crisislink.org and fill out a "volunteer application" and CrisisLink's Volunteer manager will contact you shortly with more information! 

Crisis Counselors must attend 60 hours of intensive training in active listening and crisis intervention and are required to make an additional 150 hour commitment upon completion (one 3-hour shift per week for one year, or two shifts per week for 6 months). Flexible hours are available along with these other benefits:

~ Attend free workshops and in-services year round. 
~ Respond directly to individuals in need. 
~ Letters of recommendation 
~ Free snacks 
~ Many social and recognition events 
~ Explore a future career with hands-on learning.
