Be A Mentor To A Youth In Foster Care

The Arlington County Department of Human Services (DHS) invites Arlington County residents to mentor a local foster child, between 15 and 21 years of age, for its "Looking Up" program.

If you are interested in making a difference in the life of a foster child by creating and developing an ongoing relationship, please attend training at DHS on February 4th, from 6-8pm at 3033 Wilson Boulevard, 5th Floor, Arlington, VA 22201.

Mentors offer guidance and emotional support to a foster child and agree to:

• Participate in a training held by Arlington County Department of Human Services;
  
  
• Complete a background check;
  
  
• Contact mentee by phone or email weekly;
  
  
• Be available once per month for face-to-face contact with mentee;
  
  
• Remain in regular contact with foster care social worker;
  
  
• Be available for ongoing support/training sessions.
