English Conversation Group Leader At Library

RSS XML FeedBackground Active Jun 25, 2012 to Jul 13, 2012

Are you interested in meeting people from different cultures? Arlington is home to many people from all over the world. Some come needing to improve their English language skills. Help your new neighbors by serving as a conversation partner for non-native English speakers at the Central Library at regularly scheduled English Conversation group meetings.

The group meets Monday evenings at 7:00 p.m., Thursday evenings at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday mornings at 10:00 a.m.

We are looking for volunteers interested in meeting people from other cultures. They need to have an ability to engage people in a pleasant, welcoming and encouraging manner, and the ability to speak English clearly and correctly. Reliability and dependability is necessary as is a willingness to commit one day a month. The ability to work both independently and as part of a team is a must. The ability to speak a second language is a plus. Training will be provided. People 18 years and older must consent to a background check.

Interested volunteers need to be reliable, dependable, friendly people. Experience working with children or with crafts is a plus.
