Teach or Provide Support to ESL Program

Edu-Futuro founded by Escuela Bolivia (www.edu-futuro.org) seeks a responsible individual to be a volunteer teacher or teacher assistant for our ESL program at Iglesia Santa Maria located at 7000 Arlington Blvd, Falls Church, Virginia. Depending on the volunteer's background and experience, the volunteer will either teach a class or support class. Demand is high for our ESL class, which has filled up. Unfortunately, we cannot afford to pay another teacher and are looking for a volunteer to fill this role so that we can support more students to maximize our impact. 

The volunteer will teach or support a class once a week on Wednesdays from 7 to 9pm from October 19 through December 21, 2011 at Iglesia Santa Maria. 

Responsibilities: 
• Teach ESL/Civics classes to adult immigrant students 
• Track student progress and maintain adequate records for each student, including student attendance 
• Comply with all applicable rules, regulations, and agreements of the organization 
• Achieve program goals in close collaboration with ESL team members 
• Engage communities and external partners in students' success and program results 
• Actively contribute to a community of practice that identifies and refines best practices 

• Bachelor's degree in Education or related field 
• Excellent time management skills 
• Experience working with linguistically and culturally diverse populations 
• Flexibility, creativity, and a great sense of humor 
• Experience teaching ESL and creating ESL lesson plans, preferred
