
Volunteers lead bus excursions in the metropolitan Washington, D.C. area for senior adults. These trips help to keep the seniors active, stimulate their minds, and foster comradeship. Leaders are responsible for greeting passengers, assisting them on and off the bus, and checking attendance. Volunteers will pay for group meals, events, etc. and maintain accurate receipts of all transactions. Volunteers are responsible for safety of passengers and must remind travelers of rules. All your meals, event tickets and fees for each excursion will be paid for by the Senior Adult Travel Office. With increased experience, you may qualify to lead overnight tours also. Volunteers must be fluent in Spanish & English.
Travel leaders must be fluent in Spanish and English. Travel leaders should be available at least one to two days each month to lead an assigned bus trip. Trips could be anywhere from 4 to 8+ hours. Travel leaders need to have excellent people skills, be flexible, detail oriented and able to think on their feet. Leaders must be physically able to assist passengers on and off the bus. Training is provided and new travel leaders will work in tandem with experienced travel volunteers and staff. This opportunity is sponsored by: Arlington Co.
