4-H Youth Habitat Garden Project

Kenmore Middle School and the Arlington 4-H Office are seeking volunteers to help students at the school with the creation of a habitat garden. Volunteers could help in a variety of ways -- teaching youth about native plants and wildlife, helping with manual labor (digging, planting, etc.), planning landscaping logistics and garden design, providing snacks for youth participants, or donating plants and garden supplies. Gardening experience and/or knowledge of Virginia habitats, and experience working with youth would be beneficial but are not required.The Arlington 4-H Office will provide training of volunteers and will require a background check of all volunteers.

FROM GEORGE MASON DRIVE: Turn East on Columbia Pike. Make a left onto S. HIGHLAND STREET. (First street on the left after passing S. Glebe Road.) Check signage for neighborhood street parking. Limited METERED PARKING. FROM I-66: Take VA-237/Fairfax Drive Exit 71 toward Glebe Road. Follow Fairfax Drive to Glebe Road; turn Right (SOUTH) onto Glebe Road. Dive South on Glebe Road for 1.5 miles. Turn Left onto Columbia Pike, turn Left onto S. HIGHLAND STREET. Check signage for neighborhood street parking. Limited METERED PARKING. FROM ROUTE 7/LEESBURG PIKE: Turn North onto Carlin Springs Road. Keep Left on fork to continue on Carlin Springs Road. Turn Right onto Columbia Pike. Continue on Columbia Pike for 1.8 miles, past Glebe Road South. Turn Left onto HIGHLAND STREET. Check signage for neighborhood street parking. Limited METERED PARKING.
