Join Doorways for Women and Families in celebrating and educating the public about National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) evolved from the "Day of Unity" in October 1981, conceived by the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. The intent is to connect advocates across the nation who are working to end violence against women and their children. Doorways for Women and Families has joined this effort for many years, in order to raise awareness about domestic violence in our community. This year, we are excited to present over 20 events in the month of October geared towards educating the community and building support for services to vulnerable women and their families.
