From all of us at Volunteer Arlington, Happy New Year! As you make resolutions for 2012, consider how you can resolve to give back and get involved. In the new year, Volunteer Arlington is excited to begin offering community programming. Please come and re-connect with our office and the role that we play in promoting and supporting community engagement and volunteerism. We also invite you to share feedback in a survey on Volunteer Arlington's programs and services that will help us more effectively serve you in the future.

• County Board Chair Focuses on Civic Engagement for 2012 - County Board Chair Mary Hynes announced "PLACE -- Participation, Leadership And Civic Engagement" initiative to broaden civic engagement.

• Martin Luther King, Jr. Tribute & Day of Service  - Each year, individuals across the country come together to serve their neighbors and community for the MLK Day of Service. 

• Sidewalk Snow Clearing Volunteers - Arlington County Civic Associations are seeking volunteers who are interested in assisting their neighborhood with sidewalk snow clearing efforts.

• Companions for Medical Appointments - Arlington County's Aging and Disability Services Division is looking for dedicated and committed volunteers to serve as medical appointment companions. 

• Help Give People a Second Chance -  The Sheriff's Office seeks volunteers with an assortment of talent and skills who will donate their time to work with the inmates.
