Arlington County’s Volunteer Office will be joining regional volunteer centers, nonprofits, and emergency managers from across the National Capital Region (NCR) for a regional exercise to practice mobilizing volunteers in case of a large-scale emergency or disaster. In this exercise, the volunteer agencies will practice setting up and running Volunteer Reception Centers (VRC), which process and deploy volunteers to support recovery efforts in the aftermath of a disaster. Centers will also practice coordination and communication among themselves to ensure an efficient and comprehensive response to mobilizing volunteers across multiple jurisdictions. Interested volunteers can assist the Arlington County Volunteer Office with the virtual component of the exercise by signing up online for a simulated volunteer opportunity or training. On the morning of Monday, March 17 a link will be provided below: THIS IS AN EXERCISE --- Emergency Volunteer Registration --- THIS IS AN EXERCISE Volunteers can click on the above link and help the Volunteer Office with it's preparedness efforts by following instructions labeled: 1) Signup to help a local volunteer agency Simply follow the prompts and you are done, NO NEED TO SHOWUP ANYWHERE OR DO ANYTHING MORE.
