Martin Luther King, Jr. Tribute & Day Of Service

Each year, Americans across the country come together to serve their neighbors and community for the MLK Day of Service. This year, honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and put his call to service in action: 

• Celebrate Dr. King's legacy at Arlington County's 44th Annual Tribute to Martin Luther King, Jr. on Sunday, January 20, 2013, 7 – 9 pm at Washington-Lee High School. The event will feature live music, dance and spoken word performances as well as a volunteer fair. Visit the County's Tribute to Martin Luther King, Jr. page to learn more.

• Raise awareness about emergency preparedness at the Volunteer Emergency Support Team (VEST) canvassing event. Volunteers will work in teams to share information with residents about creating emergency plans and accessing information in an emergency. Visit the VEST website to learn more and register.

• Pack care kits filled with items for U.S. Service Members, Wounded Warriors, Veterans and First Responders at the Unite America in Service Event on Saturday, January 19, 2013, 9 am – 4:45 pm in Washington, D.C.
