Last updated on May 6, 2013

GLC's summer program, Learning ROCKS! summer camp is for rising 3rd-8th graders from low-income households in Arlington, VA. This year’s theme is The Great American Summer, focusing on culture across the USA. Summer program hours are as follows: July 1-July 5th: 8:30am-4:30pm; July 8th-August 9th: 11:30am-4:30pm; August 10th-August 15th: 11:30am-4:30pm.
Volunteers maintain a flexible, yet consistent schedule. Our volunteers impact the lives of our students by monitoring daily enrichment activities that center around the different countries and sports that pertain to the summer Olympics, instilling a love of reading and promoting literacy by acting as reading buddies with the children, and providing support for staff during weekly pool time and field trips around the metro DC area.

Volunteers must be at least 15 years of age. Interested volunteers must go through an orientation prior to volunteering. Volunteers who are 18 years and older must pay the fee to undergo a background check.
