Volunteer Opportunity - Book Sale Extravaganza Worker

Do you like browsing in used bookstores? Come share that joy! The Friends of the Arlington Public Library hold semi-annual book sales to raise money to support a variety of Library activities, including the summer reading program for children and the community read, Arlington Reads.

Preparing for the sales is a year-round task. Donated books, magazines, and media items are unpacked, sorted, priced, and re-packed for the next sale. In addition, the donation processing team keeps the used bookstore stocked with materials that sell for $1.00 or less.

We need people able to lift heavy boxes and move heavy carts of materials who also can follow established guidelines for pricing items. We ask for a six-month commitment that involves working 3-4 hours twice a week. Several weeks of training is necessary, and consenting to a background check is required.
