The Arlington Historical Society sponsors programs to research, preserve and publicize the local history of Arlington County, Virginia. Two of its programs involve operating historic properties.

Description:
AHS sponsors an array of educational and other programs that further its mission. It is seeking volunteers with all sorts of skill sets, including docents for the Arlington Historical Museum and for its c. 1650 Ball-Sellers House historic property at 5620 S. Third Street. Volunteer and help to make history live in Arlington!

History:
AHS was founded in 1956 and began operating the Arlington Historical Museum in the historic Hume School Building at 1805 S. Arlington Ridge Road in the early 1960's. It has published the Arlington Historical Magazine, a journal of scholarly research, for nearly 50 years. Over the years, the Society has sponsored numerous lectures and tours highlighting Arlington County history, engaged in historic preservation and other advocacy efforts, published books and monographs, and served as a discussion forum of Arlington County history for its members.
